Darryl Spector

Darryl Spector is the President of Promation Nuclear Ltd, a long-standing Engineering and custom equipment supplier to Bruce Power, Ontario Power Generation, and other Nuclear customers for over a decade.  In September, 2017, Promation answered the call from Mike Rencheck and his team to localize in Bruce County where they discovered a home in Port Elgin.  Since that time, they have found the community to be enthusiastically and sincerely engaging, and it’s been a genuine pleasure to be welcomed into the region.

Outside of the Promation business, Darryl also manifests his passion for championing awareness and promotion of the benefits of the skilled trades amongst youth.  He sits on the Board of Directors for Skills Ontario as Vice Chair, as well as the governing Board for the Ontario Council for Technical Education (OCTE), and is active in numerous other related initiatives across the province, and especially in the Bluewater district.

As well, thanks to our close partners based in Kincardine, NPX—and especially Bharath Nangia!!—Darryl also proudly joined the governing Board overseeing the Kinetic Knights FIRST Robotics team based out of Kincardine in 2018.

When not building business and communities, Darryl pursues his real passion—spending time with his wife and two young boys playing sports, travelling, and pursuing whichever various adventures present themselves!!

Another fun fact—Darryl was the extremely fortunate winner of the TREK Road Bike generously donated by Martin’s Bike Shop in Southampton for the 2018 Gran Fondo raffle for fundraisers…so be sure to fundraise, fundraise, FUNDRAISE!!

Why I Ride

When we were first made aware of the opportunity to participate and support the first inaugural Gran Fondo in 2018, we jumped at the chance for several reasons!  First and foremost—it was different.  Being a Gran Fondo, it was a unique fundraising opportunity for a wonderful and important cause, as strong communities are built (in part) by local access to relevant and viable health care.

Secondly, being a bike ride through the rolling hills and country side, it resonated with some of our core values including healthy wellness and promoting a work-life balance.

Finally—and most importantly—it is a great opportunity to engage with and build communities, both within our own company, as well as within the community in which we support and work.  The Gran Fondo is a wonderful event for our employees to come together and participate, and also is a terrific opportunity to see more of the beautiful region in which we operate!!

We were delighted to participate in last year’s tremendously successful Gran Fondo, and we’re looking forward to making this year’s Fondo bigger and better!

Challenge Issued!

Because the SMHF Gran Fondo was such a great and worthwhile experience, we encouraged some of our close local nuclear supplier-partners to consider supporting last year, and were delighted to be joined by the likes of SNC Lavalin, Laveer, EMC, and OCNI, just to name a few—and we know many more have signed on this year to join the party!

So once again, we are calling out the local Nuclear supply chain, which has grown substantially in the region over the past year, so there are even more teams who can rise up to join the challenge!!  The more friends that support, the more FUN we can put into FUNDRAISING!

…and a special gauntlet-toss is also being thrown at the feet of our close friends and partners in community engagement at NPX and their bold leader, Bharath Nangia (…let’s see if they can convert that friendly trash talk to big $$$ for the SMHF!!).
