Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that Martin’s Bicycle Shop is joining the Gran Fondo Lake Huron Team as a Gold Level Sponsor.
Located in the heart of beautiful Southampton, Ontario for the past 19 years, Martin’s Bicycle Shop specializes in all aspects of cycling from children’s balance bikes to competitive road, mountain and BMX bikes. Their mission is to provide quality products and service from friendly and knowledgeable staff. Martin’s Bicycle Shop also believes strongly in supporting community charities, causes and events which certainly ties in to their support for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron.
Along with their support of the event which includes donating prizes for the top fundraisers, Martin’s will be organizing several fun and free training rides for anyone in the community who would like to participate. These rides will travel the Gran Fondo Lake Huron routes in order to help riders prepare for their particular distance. “We’re excited to be involved”, says Brett Martin. “The Gran Fondo is a great event with options for riders of all skill levels. It also gives them the opportunity to explore the remarkable cycling landscape Bruce County has to offer.”
The 2018 Gran Fondo Lake Huron is a new fundraising initiative for the Foundation. Executive Director Sally Kidson says, “Costs of medical equipment continue to rise and having state of the art equipment is key to prompt diagnoses and excellent care. We hope to raise $150,000 with the Gran Fondo Lake Huron for this purpose. But it is a lot more than a fundraiser for the Foundation. This event is for our entire community and beyond!”
Jim Barbour, Foundation Chair commented that “the Board of Directors particularly liked the idea of this event because it comes wellness with raising funds for health care.”
