Bruce Power to be the Presenting Sponsor for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron

Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that Bruce Power has committed to being the Presenting Sponsor for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron.

Bruce Power donates over $1.3 million every year to community organizations and events.

Bruce Power uses the strength of our people and innovative technology to provide electricity to a quarter of the homes, businesses, schools and hospitals in Ontario.  In order to do this, they rely on the support and commitment of our surrounding communities and everyone that lives here. Given that, Bruce Power has a social responsibility to engage, assist and champion the needs and causes close to home.

“Bruce Power is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Gran Fondo,” said Chris Mercanti, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations.”This event was a huge success in its first year, and I have no doubt it will be even more exciting in 2019. We look forward to supporting the organizers and participants in this special fundraiser.”

Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Foundation stated “This is our second year running the Gran Fondo Lake Huron fundraising cycling event in support of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. Bruce Power was such a strong supporter last year as a Platinum sponsor and now to return as The Presenting Sponsor of this event we couldn’t be more thrilled or grateful for their tremendous support of our organization!

Bruce Power has such a strong commitment to social responsibility and giving back to the surrounding communities especially initiatives in the healthcare, mental health and education sectors. We are so thankful for their ongoing support of the Foundation and are honoured to announce that the Gran Fondo Lake Huron will now be the Gran Fondo Lake Huron Presented by Bruce Power.”

Why Ride?

This year, funds raised through Gran Fondo Lake Huron will strengthen healthcare in our region by enhancing regional stroke care and supporting essential equipment upgrades at Brightshores Southampton Hospital. Every dollar raised helps ensure our healthcare teams have the tools they need to provide high-quality, lifesaving care to our community and visitors.

When a stroke occurs, every second counts. Access to advanced imaging technology and rapid intervention tools can mean the difference between recovery and lifelong disability. Saugeen Shores residents rely on our designated stroke center in Owen Sound for urgent stroke care. Funds raised will help equip the center with essential upgrades to improve diagnosis and treatment, ensuring faster, more effective care for patients throughout our region.

Funds raised will also help upgrade vital equipment at Brightshores Southampton Hospital, ensuring our healthcare teams can provide exceptional care close to home. This year’s funding will replace essential tools like crash carts, keeping staff prepared for urgent situations. Investing in modern equipment enhances patient care, improves efficiency, and supports our hospital in meeting the community’s growing healthcare needs.

Your participation in Gran Fondo Lake Huron directly strengthens local healthcare. Whether you ride, volunteer, or donate, you are helping provide the vital resources that keep our hospital at its best, ensuring lifesaving care for our community today and for generations to come.
