Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Announces EMC Power Canada Tyke Trike and Skills Circuit Children’s Rides

EMC Power Canada (EMC) Ltd. has operated since 2005, providing specialized construction management and multi discipline trade services. EMC offers a wide range of expertise in construction and the ability to provide clients with services including manufacturing, installation, Inspection, modification, auditing and maintenance for power generation and distribution in nuclear and non-nuclear applications.

“The addition of these children’s rides is the icing on the cake for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron,” states Sally Kidson, Executive Director of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.  “EMC Power Canada Ltd. is the perfect partner for this initiative.  EMC Power Canada Ltd. has a focus on safety, community involvement and they are sure to organize a safe and fun time for the children!”

Alexanne Pizycki, Senior Manager, Quality Assurance is excited to organize and create this aspect of the Gran Fondo Lake Huron.  “EMC Power Canada Ltd. is pleased to be involved in this inaugural year with the development of the children’s events.   It fits within our corporate values and provides an opportunity for our employees to be involved with a very worthwhile community event.”

The Tykes Trike Ride is for children 5 and under and will take place in the Coliseum beginning at 8:30 a.m.  The tykes will be sent out and around a mini course (with parents helping if needed).  Spectators are welcome to come and cheer the little ones on.  The Skills Circuit is for children ages 6 to 9 and will take place outside in the Coliseum Parking Lot.  It will begin at 9:30 a.m.  Participants will be required to navigate a series of simple tests.  Each participant in both the Tykes Trike Ride and the Skills Circuit will receive a goody bag and a special medal for participating.  Registration is only $5.00 for these events.

The 2018 Gran Fondo Lake Huron is a new fundraising initiative for the Foundation.  Executive Director Sally Kidson says, “Costs of medical equipment continue to rise and having state of the art equipment is key to prompt diagnoses and excellent care.  We hope to raise $150,000 with the Gran Fondo Lake Huron for this purpose.  But it is a lot more than a fundraiser for the Foundation.  This event is for our entire community and beyond!”

Why Ride?

This year, funds raised through Gran Fondo Lake Huron will strengthen healthcare in our region by enhancing regional stroke care and supporting essential equipment upgrades at Brightshores Southampton Hospital. Every dollar raised helps ensure our healthcare teams have the tools they need to provide high-quality, lifesaving care to our community and visitors.

When a stroke occurs, every second counts. Access to advanced imaging technology and rapid intervention tools can mean the difference between recovery and lifelong disability. Saugeen Shores residents rely on our designated stroke center in Owen Sound for urgent stroke care. Funds raised will help equip the center with essential upgrades to improve diagnosis and treatment, ensuring faster, more effective care for patients throughout our region.

Funds raised will also help upgrade vital equipment at Brightshores Southampton Hospital, ensuring our healthcare teams can provide exceptional care close to home. This year’s funding will replace essential tools like crash carts, keeping staff prepared for urgent situations. Investing in modern equipment enhances patient care, improves efficiency, and supports our hospital in meeting the community’s growing healthcare needs.

Your participation in Gran Fondo Lake Huron directly strengthens local healthcare. Whether you ride, volunteer, or donate, you are helping provide the vital resources that keep our hospital at its best, ensuring lifesaving care for our community today and for generations to come.
