SAUGEEN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION IS THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE LAVEER ENGINEERING AS A RETURNING SPONSOR FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL GRAN FONDO LAKE HURON

Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to be running the second annual Gran Fondo Lake Huron event in August 2019. Last year, the annual fundraiser got the tradition off to a good start, with a total of over $140,000 having been raised for hospital equipment needs.

This year, the Foundation looks forward to hosting another stellar event, and thanks their gracious sponsors for all the support. At the inaugural event in 2018, Laveer Engineering Limited was generous enough to be a Silver sponsor of the Gran Fondo, and the Foundation is grateful to welcome them back, this year as a Gold sponsor! As a Gold sponsor Laveer will receive complementary ride registrations, signage at the start and finish of all 4 distance rides, website and social media marketing and recognition as well as kit package recognition and/or a sponsor booth at the registration area the day of the event.

Peter Gowthorpe, Director with Laveer Engineering states “We really enjoyed the event in 2018.  It was great to see the level of industry and community engagement.  The event organization was fantastic which is not always the case with a first-time event.  We are looking forward to a bigger and better version of the Gran Fondo in 2019 and seeing more corporations step up and contribute to a fantastic cause.”

LAVEER ENGINEERING LIMITED has a team of principal engineers with extensive project experience. The organization has worked on successful first of a kind tooling and field execution projects with unique constraints associated with nuclear.

Turn-key design services focused on mechanical and electrical design of components and assemblies in the areas of welding, machining and inspection. Integrating proven practices and standards with their innovative approach, Laveer can deliver a design package tailored to their customers’ unique requirements. Laveer can produce ruggedized designs including limited space/limited access applications.

Executive Director at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Tracy Murray states “The Foundation is absolutely thrilled to have Laveer Engineering return as a sponsor for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron’s second year. The fact that many sponsors have already returned from last years’ event shows that they had a positive experience in 2018 and as much fun as we did taking part in the event!”

Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that Shawcor is joining the Gran Fondo Lake Huron Team as a Gold Level Sponsor.

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Shawcor Ltd is a ‘Made in Canada’ success story.  Founded in 1932, Shawcor has grown from a small Canadian pipeline coating company to a global energy services leader through engineering innovation and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Shawcor’s five business units offer world-class engineering solutions for corrosion protection, non-destructive evaluation, and instrumentation and control applications.

For thirty years, Shawcor has been supplying Shawflex nuclear grade electrical cables to support operations at Ontario’s Nuclear Power Generating Stations. In 2018, as a commitment to provide world class service to the Bruce Power community, Shawcor has opened a sales office in downtown Kincardine with plans to grow this presence over the coming year. As a new member of the Bruce community, they are very excited to participate in this special event.

The 2018 Gran Fondo Lake Huron is a new fundraising initiative for the Foundation.  Executive Director Sally Kidson says, “Costs of medical equipment continue to rise and having state of the art equipment is key to prompt diagnoses and excellent care.  We hope to raise $150,000 with the Gran Fondo Lake Huron for this purpose.  But it is a lot more than a fundraiser for the Foundation.  This event is for our entire community and beyond!”

Jim Barbour, Foundation Chair commented that “the Board of Directors particularly liked the idea of this event because it promotes wellness with raising funds for health care.  The funds raised from this event will help purchase a new MRI for our regional hospital in Owen Sound.  Patients from across Grey and Bruce Counties use this service.  As well, some funds will be allocated to purchase equipment for the Southampton Hospital.”
